The Honors Service Learning Projects is a 1 unit course offered by the Honors Program to Honors Student. This course allows students to partake in a community service internship or research project that reflects community interests and has applications to social problems. In this course, students develop leadership skills, gain experience in a mentoring role with students, and get hands-on experience in the social and institutional aspects of instructions.
Students plan and design student-enrichment projects, and correspond with students from Fremont Elementary School in Modesto. The projects are implemented in classrooms at Fremont Elementary in accordance with California’s Common Core standards.
